A crown fit for a king.

Knitted crown patternAfter getting back from skiing, Jax and I were tired to say the least. He has been teething like crazy lately and we still have no new teeth to account for! So we decided to take a “sick day” and lounge around on the couch watching movies. To feel a tiny bit productive I got out my knitting needles and started on something I have been wanting for his birthday for awhile. A crown! And it looks pretty damn good on him if I do say so myself! Below is the pattern 🙂Knitted crown pattern

Crown Pattern

I just used a basic work horse yarn, the super savor yarn from red heart in gold

Using size us 8 needles cast on 6 stitches then follow the next 20 rows. Each set of 20 rows will make one point on the crown.

(increasing for the point of the crown)

row 1 (wrong side) – p2, k2, p2
row 2 (right side) – k to last 3 stitches, m1R, k1, m1R, k2
row 3 (ws) – p2, k4, p2
row 4 (rs) – k to last 3 stitches, m1R, k1, m1R, k2
row 5 (ws) – p2, k6, p2
row 6 (rs) – k to last 3 stitches, m1R, k1, m1R, k2
row 7 (ws) – p2, k8, p2
row 8 (rs) – k to last 3 stitches, m1R, k1, m1R, k2
row 9 (ws) – p2, k10, p2
row 10 (rs) – k to last 3 stitches, m1R, k1, m1R, k2
row 11 (ws) – p2, k12, p2
(decreasing for the point of the crown)
row 12 (rs) – k to last 5 stitches, k2tog, k2tog, k1
row 13 (ws) – p2, k10, p2
row 14 (rs)– k to last 5 stitches, k2tog, k2tog, k1
row 15 (ws) – p2, k8, p2
row 16 (rs) – k to last 5 stitches, k2tog, k2tog, k1
row 17 (ws) – p2, k6, p2
row 18 (rs) – k to last 5 stitches, k2tog, k2tog, k1
row 19 (ws) – p2, 4, p2
row 20 (rs) – k to last 5 stitches, k2tog, k2tog, k1

Repeat rows 1-20 six times. Use the kitchener stitch to attach both sides together and weave in your ends. This crown measures out to be 18.5 inches and fits around my one year old’s head perfectly!Knitted crown patternKnitted crown patternKnitted crown patternKnitted crown pattern
