I am so excited to be adding the Arnies Public House logo I recently made into the Addy awards this week! When I was going to school I never even thought about participating in the areas competition. Whether I was busy doing other stuff or worried about not being good enough to be apart of it I don’t know, but I couldn’t be more excited to be doing it now. Honestly I had pushed the entire thing out of my mind. Being mostly a stay at home momma I only really do freelance for people via word of mouth or as favors to people close to me. It hasn’t been a huge part of my life aside from the occasional job and the love of designing and art. APH just happened to be donating food to the event and someone who saw the logo contacted me and said they thought it would be a good opportunity. I agree! So wish me luck competing against all the amazing designers around me, including a good friend of mine who coincidently also has a logo in the event! For their interior wall my husband built a huge pallet sign and I burnt their logo into it. It was the perfect style for the newly renovated bar. The inside is covered in old barn wood and filled with hand-built wooden tables with Edison bulbs hanging above them. It is such a change from the old bar feel and not only in the decor. With a new chef in the back and full kitchen also recently added the food is amazing!
Burning the sign was super simple! We used a projector to trace the logo onto the wood and then just burnt in our lines. Having the logo traced and not having to free hand or measure it cut out soooo much time and even allowed the hubby to help with the burning! Which was a huge because burning isn’t the quickest process and after a while your hand definitely takes a beating from heat and exhaustion.
